#freethought is a place for human discussion. Lots of people want to invite bots over, though. If you would like to play with game bots, our sister channel #ourgames is the place for that. The owner of #ourgames is toucan. Keep the games and bots in #ourgames and the discussion in #freethought.
Many people have asked to be an op here. We can not give op to everyone who asks. A channel only needs a "sufficient" amount of moderators to work, so there has to be a reason to appoint more. Personal conflicts between individuals are an expected, normal part of IRC. If everyone in the channel has kicking ability, then what happens when such a conflict occurs? It's not desirable. Please remember, #freethought is not your place to sort out your private issues with another person; take it to a PM. Remember to always be rational when talking or arguing with other people; these are your comrades, not your opponents.
Rules about appointing new mods:
- A new mod is appointed if the channel needs mods.
- Every new mod starts off as a Halfop. The admins will adjust the level accordingly over time as trust naturally develops. Level will increase when trust increases, and level will decrease as trust decreases.
If you are on the VOP (VOice Peoples) list, you will not be kicked if Bot suspects you of spamming. Before you become a mod, you should already be a VOP. And remember, new mods are appointed if they are needed, not in vain.
